Discover Salento
A base in the middle
of lower Salento
From Torre Vado you quickly reach both the sandy Ionian coast and the rocky far south. A different beach every day, without ever an hour in the car.
The marinas, by distance
Torre Vado
The little harbour, the square, the cafés along the seafront and the low rocks you slip into the water from. In the evening it becomes the heart of the marina.
Pescoluse
The Maldives of Salento: white sand, water that stays shallow for tens of metres, and the turquoise that ends up on every postcard of Puglia.
San Gregorio
Rocky coast, deep clear water, sea urchins and excellent fish. The right place for sunset when the beaches are too crowded.
Santa Maria di Leuca
Where Puglia ends and the Adriatic meets the Ionian. The lighthouse, the monumental waterfall, the nineteenth-century villas and the caves to see from the water.
How far
The sea is 400 m away.
The rest of Salento, half an hour.
The two scales below are drawn to proportion: the first is what you reach on foot, the second what is worth taking the car for.

One week, seven ideas
Arrive and settle in
Shopping at the supermarket, first swim at Torre Vado, dinner on foot and a drink on the terrace.
Pescoluse
White sand and shallow water: the most famous beach day in Salento. Get there early.
Santa Maria di Leuca
The lighthouse, the waterfall, the seafront of villas. If you can, take a boat out to the caves.
A slow day
The sea outside the door, lunch in the courtyard, a nap and an evening walk to the harbour.
Inland
Presicce, Specchia and Patù: stone villages a few kilometres away, cool even in August.
San Gregorio at sunset
Rocks, deep water and one of the best sunsets on the coast. Then a fish dinner.
Gallipoli or Otranto
The one long trip of the week: old town, fish market and back in the evening.
